Summer Camp
June and July were months of intense learning and fun. The IB Program offered the First Biotech Summer Camp sponsored by the Amgen Foundation to sixty eleventh grade students throughout different public and private high schools around the island.

The participants had opportunities to experience educational workshops as well as extracurricular activities while staying at the Hotel Colegial. To expose high school students to career paths in biotechnology was our mission and it was highly accomplished. Congratulations to those selected and special thanks to Dr. Carlos Ríos-Velázquez, Dr. Vivian Navas, Dr. Rafael Montalvo, Dr. Belinda Pastrana, Mrs. Gladys Toro, Mrs. Magaly Zapata, Mrs. María Schwarz, Myrna Rivera, Liliana del V. Sosa, Aned Burgos, Greechen Rivera who offered the workshops. A big round of applause to Rosa I. León, Rosivette Santiago, Juan Vega, Barbara Sánchez and Waleska Jiménez, mentors in the summer camp and who did an excellent job assisting these participants with daily objectives and guiding them along the way. Not only was the awareness of biotechnology made, but friendships and new career goals were also developed. Until next summer 2007! |
