Puerto Rico and the countries of this hemisphere are very proud of the University of Puerto Rico and Colegio… Their support is expressed in many ways, especially by sending their students to do graduate work in our institution, and it represents responsibilities and challenges to our academic community. Every graduate academic program is committed to offer the students the level of excellence that is expected from Colegio. You will be very proud of being a student in this excellent academic institution and you will have many opportunities to leave your mark and contribute to its successes.
During your years of graduate studies in Colegio you will learn about this institution. In this academic year, in preparation for our Century Celebration, we will focus on the founders of the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez. Through conferences, seminars, publications and concerts we will understand more clearly the history behind Colegio and the process to establish and develop it. Each year will be a unique opportunity to understand how this community is being formed and what is in its future; a future that is also your future... and the future of your families.
In 2010 we will be able to be part of a very important event in Mayaguez and in our Campus… the celebration of the Central American and Caribbean Games…. Mayaguez 2010. For our academic community this is a unique opportunity to host athletes and visitors from many nations of our region… many will come from your countries. Moreover a new Complejo Colegial Centroamericano will be constructed in our Campus…as part of this initiative. It will have three swimming pools, ten tennis courts and four racketball courts. Mayaguez 2010 are our Games and you will be part of them…
As we initiate the academic year 2007-2008, we welcome the master and doctoral students to the Colegio. During your studies you will be part of the 2011 Century Celebration and of the Central American and Caribbean Games…and you will leave your personal legacy to your Alma Mater. Enjoy the learning process at UPRM…one that strengthens the concept of “the university as a priceless way of life”.
