To accomplish it's mission the EDUC is focused on the following activities:

Technical Assistance

To provide advice or support to state agencies, local government, trade associations, and private non-profit organizations on economic development issues, projects, activities and programs. This assistance, in some cases requires the preparation of applied economic studies such as feasibility, market, economic impact or planning analyses.

Professional Development

Organize or participate in conferences/workshops on economic development related topics for capacity building in the public and private sectors.

Information Counseling

Provide information counseling services and develop data products relevant to economic development practitioners and businesses throughout the Commonwealth. The Center is a designated Business & Industry Data Center (BIDC) of the Bureau of the Census of the US Department of Commerce and the Puerto Rico Planning Board.

The Objectives of the BIDC Program are:

  • To increase the awareness of and access to economic and demographic data by the public and private sectors.
  • To seek wider public and private sector use of economic and demographic data.
  • To learn more about effective economic data and data uses.
