Text Box: Welcome to the Web site of the Museum of Marine Invertebrates in the Department of Marine Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez.
The Museum of Marine Invertebrates is located on Magueyes Island off of the coastal town of La Parguera in southwestern Puerto Rico.  The Collection houses over 10,000 specimens from most invertebrate phyla. The Collection holdings are primarily of Caribbean marine invertebrates, and has been a fundamental resource for the University of Puerto Rico since its inception in 1934.
The Collection is currently undergoing major renovations to ensure proper housing of specimens. During this time, we will continue to process loan requests (see link at left for information on loans), but we ask for your patience as some loans may not be processed for several weeks.
We are also currently in the process of digitizing collection records, thus we will be able to provide a searchable database, soon. Holdings queries may be directed to the Curator via email (see contact info below).
