Before entering college I was interested in maps and how they could be created. Then, I learned about the Surveying and Topography program of the University of Puerto Rico atMayaguez (UPRM) and I decided to apply. Upon taking the course of Cartography and learning about nautical charts, my interest in the field of Hydrography and Oceanography started to grow. For my thesis I am working in the development of an Operational 3D hydrodynamic model for The San Juan Bay Estuary System. For this project, I have retrieved historicalbathymetries of the area and converted all of them to a common datum; but also I plan to do bathymetric and topographic surveys in the areas that there is not data available. |
