Research Description

Research Interests

My main research interests are: water and soil quality, pollutant loads, Total Maximum Daily Loads generation, watershed modeling and remote sensing tools for water quality assessments.

Thesis Research:

Predicting Sediment and Nutrient Loads in Tropical Watersheds in Puerto Rico
University of Puerto Rico, Soil Sciences Department, Mayagüez, Puerto Rico

The main objectives of my research is to determine sediment and nutrient loads and to propose mathematical relationships to relate sediment and nutrient loads to physiographic and hydrologic properties of Río Limón, Río Grande de Arecibo, Río Caonillas and Río Jauca sub watersheds located in the north central part of Puerto Rico. The research sampled variables for each sub watershed includes: pH, temperature, conductivity, salinity, water velocity, total suspended sediment, chlorophyll-a, total Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN), total phosphorus (TP) and dissolved phosphorus (DP) loads.
