If you are in the east coast area this weekend, five of our graduate students will be presenting their research on Queer Studies in Education at the Librería Mágica in Río Piedras, on Saturday, April 21st, 2012.
Please join Veronica Basch, Elizabeth Lenherr, Kimberly Long, Vanessa Mari, and Josué Morales as they discuss their research findings and recommendations in the context of both the United States and Puerto Rico.
We will meet at the bookstore (located at 1013 Avenida Ponce de León) at 12:00 p.m. for a tour and discussion of the Librería Mágica's history and significance as a retailer of LGBT literature and related resources in Puerto Rico. At 1:00 p.m., young author, Christopher Figueroa, will present his recently published English-language book, Straight Curves, and from 2:00-4:00, the graduate students will present their research.
This activity is a component of INGL 6981: Queer Studies in English Education: Curriculum, Policy and Perspectives and is dedicated to the memory of Jorge Steven López Mercado (1990-2009).
