We are pleased to announce the second seminar of the Distinguished Biology Speakers Series, Dr. George Benz, whose presentation “Putting the Bite on Jaws”, will be held in the Biology Auditorium (B-392), Thursday, April 26 at 10:30am. Dr. Benz is a specialist in shark ectoparasites but also has a broad background in fish parasitology and parasite/host interactions. He also studies the movements and feeding strategies of sleeper sharks. In addition he serves as a periodic consultant for various aquariums regarding the diagnosis and treatment of infectious pathogens. Dr. Benz is a Professor at Middle Tennessee State University and has over 100 publications.

Our Distinguished Speaker Series will culminate in the Undergraduate Student Symposium on May 5. These talks are made possible by grants from the Howard Hughes Medical Institution and the Puerto Rico Trust for Science and Engineering.
