Renewals
Books not requested by other borrowers may be renewed via our Online Catalog (your username and PIN is required) or in person, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Requests
If you need a book that is checked out you may place a request on the book at the online catalog terminal or at the Circulation Desk, and it will be recalled for your use. No item will be recalled until the current borrower has had the use of it for at least 15 days. All patrons, including faculty, are responsible for honoring recall requests and are subject to fines for failing to return recalled items in the required time period.
Overdue penalties
Borrowers are subject to fines for the late return of library books. The incurrence of excessive none-paid fines will result in suspension of borrowing privileges. Fines are $0.25/day/book, after the three day grace period. If a book is lost or damaged the patron is billed the cost of the book and a flat rate of $5.00 as a replacement charge.
U.P.R. System Faculty Loan Program
Any member of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) faculty may request loans if they comply with the above mentioned policies.
Books not found in the stacks
If you do not find a book shown as available in the stacks on the online catalog, you can request a search at the Circulation Desk. A full search for a missing book may take as long as two weeks. Please consult the Circulation Desk within two weeks after placing the request.

The library has four (4) rooms for group discussion with a seating capacity that varies from 8 to 20 users. These rooms must be reserved at least one (1) hour in advance and are lent for a maximum of two (2) consecutive hours. If they are not reserved, they will be lent upon availability. There should be a minimum of 3 users per room.
Carrels
If you are a graduate student, or a faculty member, you may be eligible for a carrel (private study room) in the library. These carrels have a maximum lending period of seven (7) consecutive days.
