Self Service Copying and Printing


Fotocopiadoras Self service photocopy machines are available in the General Library first (1st) and third (3rd) floors. The 1st floor has two copiers in the Reference/Documents Collection; two in the South Area Study Room; 4 in the Serials and Electronic Resources Collection. The 3rd floor has three copiers in the Puerto Collection; two in the Circulation/Reserve Collection and two in South Study Area (in front of Systems Department). There is also a copier in the Marine Sciences Collection and one in Alvarez Nazario Collection. The cost per copy is 5 cents.

Library staff frequently adds paper and toner cartridges as needed and performs limited, routine maintenance tasks such as removing paper jams. The more serious problems are immediately reported to the technical representatives from the company. The copiers are also checked periodically to ensure good copy quality.

If a problem should occur, users should notify the next service desk staff. Users should never attempt to fix a problem themselves as these copiers tend to get hot and have internal moving parts which pose a risk of injury to the user or the machine if mishandled. We encourage users to make sure that the copier settings meet their needs before they begin their work. Service desk staff can provide a refund ticket for machine problems that are not due to operator error, but cash refunds can usually only be issued Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm in the Administrative Office (1st floor).

The Serials and Electronic Resources Collection has two (2) laser printers: a black/white printer with a cost of (10¢) per copy and a color printer with a cost of (50¢) per copy.

In addition, microform reader/printers are available in the Serials and Electronic Resources, Reference/Documents, and Puerto Rican collections. The cost per copy is (10¢) cents.

Change machines from large to small denomination bills as well as bill to coin machines are available on the 1st floor near the service desk of the Serials and Electronic Resources Collection and on the 3rd floor near the copiers.
