Ivitational Summer Institute

 

Each year, Mayawest Writing Project selects up to twenty teachers to study literacy development and the teaching of writing in the Invitational Summer Institute. Participants share best teaching practices, study recent research, and write in a relaxed, collegial atmosphere at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez. This program features experienced facilitators and presenters, including university professors and veteran classroom teachers.

Mayawest Writing Project seeks applications from experienced educators in all content areas who successfully integrate writing and reading instruction into their curriculum. Teachers working with students of all ages, from young children to adult learners, are invited to apply. The writing project maintains a special interest in working with educators who teach English Language Learners, as well as those who work with students from communities affected by poverty.

If you are interested in applying for the summer Institute please down load the application and fill it out. Send the completed application to mwwp@uprm.edu or fax it to the English Department at 787-265-3847.

The applications will be accepted until the first week of March. Afterward, all applicants will be sceened and interviewed before the final selection is made. Those selected will receive a stipend and/or the option to receive up to six (6) graduate credits
