The New Venture Design Experience is a project at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez campus that facilitates multidisciplinary teamwork addressing a design challenge throughout an academic year. Collaborating on a design challenge, students engage in market research, identify opportunity areas (consumer problems) and propose ideas (solutions) to develop into working prototypes. A design challenge is a broad topic area that reflects current problems in society. Design challenge topics will guide the students towards development of products or services for the benefit of society.
