Please feel free to contact our graduate coordinator if you have a question about our Graduate Program by writing an email to rromanac@uprm.edu or rromanac@yahoo.com. Dr Romañach will quickly answer your e-mail. Don't be shy to send an e-mail if you submitted a request for admission and you have not heard from us. We will check on the status of your application.
It is very important that students take the GRE test on time. The GRE aptitude test is required. Requests for admissions are not accepted if they don't include the GRE scores. It takes 4 - 6 weeks for the GRE scores to reach our Graduate Studies Office, so you need to plan well ahead of time for taking this test. Please call 1-800-473-2255 to schedule the GRE test (you need a credit card). You may visit, www.gre.org for more information.
Students can start Graduate School in both academic semesters. The deadline for admission is February 15 for the first semester of the academic year, and September 15 for the second semester. The Department usually accepts requests for admission up to month after these dates, but the application fee is higher (see http://grad.uprm.edu).
We also make arrangements for your visit to our department, so you can meet with different professors and become familiarized with our research efforts before joining the Department. It is recommended that students identify at least two - three professors with whom they would like to do research before coming to our program, in case that their professor of choice is not able to accept new students during that semester.
