Research Interest:

Isolation and characterization of oxidative enzymes from fungi; study of role of oxidative enzymes on fungal pathogenicity.
Isolation and characterization of histidine decarboxylase from histamine-producing microbial contaminants in dairy products.
Study of the effects of antioxidants on the development of rancidity in frozen Tilapia.

Laboratory Facilities:

Research lab in Q-309, Chemistry building– equipment for:

Microorganism management - laminar hoods, incubator shaker, etc.
Protein purification – cell disruptor, sonicator, chromatography columns, fraction collectors, peristaltic pumps, etc.
Miscellaneous-electrophoresis equipment,spectrophotometer, speed-vac, rotary evaporator, microscope, etc.

Common areas in Biochemistry research section – 3rd floor, Chemistry building:
-Cold room
-Dark room
-Radioisotope room with scintillation/bioluminescence counter
-Refrigerated high speed centrifuge
