Chemistry of natural products derived form medicinal plants. Plant cell tissue culture of medicinal plants with special interest in plants of reputed ethnopharmaceutical activity to treat kidney stones disease. Research includes:

Plant cell tissue culture to control and modify plants growth conditions;
Chemical composition analysis after different growth conditions;
In vitro evaluation of plants decoctions for its antilithic activities.

The project includes chromatography (TLC, column, HPLC, GC-MS), fluorescence spectroscopy, bioluminescence, measurements of free and complex Ca+2 in solution, dissolution of calcium oxalate or calcium phosphate by plant decoctions, and inhibition of crystal or stone growth by plant extracts.
