AFIM on the Road

The mission of AFIM On The Road is to inspire and guide students towards engineering mechanics, through dynamic talks and interactive activities. We talk about the world of mechanical engineering, the opportunities it offers and how they can be applied to the UPR at Mayagüez, including the necessary requirements.

What is AFIM on the Road About?

AFIM On The Road is an initiative of the Association of Females in Mechanical Engineering (AFIM by its spanish abreviation) at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus (UPRM).

Our goal is to bring mechanical engineering to schools in Puerto Rico, inspiring young students to discover their potential in STEM fields.

Through dynamic talks, interactive demonstrations, and educational activities, our members share their experiences as engineering students, the challenges and opportunities in the field, and the steps necessary to apply to UPRM.

What do we offer?

  • Presentations on the Mechanical Engineering career and its various branches.
  • Guidance on the admission process to the University of Puerto Rico – Mayagüez.
  • Interactive activities and hands-on demonstrations.
  • Discussion spaces where students can ask questions and clarify doubts about university life and the world of engineering.

When and where?

From March to May, our AFIM team will be visiting schools around the island.

Each visit is tailored to the participating group, from middle school to high school students, with the aim of fostering interest in engineering from an early stage.

How to participate?

If your school is interested in receiving a visit from AFIM On The Road, you can contact us or fill out the form to schedule a date and learn more about the program.

We would love to bring this educational experience to your institution and inspire your students to explore the fascinating world of engineering.
