EDSA members in costume posing for the EDSA Children's Library Fantasy Event.

Last Saturday, February 21, the English Department Student Association (EDSA) hosted the first Mayagüez Children’s Library (Biblioteca Juvenil) event of the semester.

The event was just as successful as the Superhero Saturday event EDSA held at the library last year, following the same scheme except with a fantasy theme this time. Volunteers played games and read fairy tales with the kids, many of whom were dressed up in costumes, such as fairies, princesses, and a dinosaur. Some volunteers chose to dress up as well, also as fairies, princesses, a dragon, a pirate, and Anna from Disney’s Frozen also made an appearance.

The kids were also entertained with arts & crafts, where they made wizard beards from cotton balls, and crowns and wizards hats from construction paper, which they decorated with jewels and star stickers. Afterwards, they had their snack time and left happily with their new crowns and wizard hats.

EDSA usually collaborates with the Children’s Library once per semester, but you can still visit the library whenever you’d like. For more information, visit their website here.
