Prerequisite: INGL 3202 or INGL 3104 or INGL 3212

Three credit hours. Three hours of lecture per week.

Through this course, students will explore modern and contemporary poetry movements, giving special attention to the chief lines of development throughout the Thirties and Forties and the contemporary period.  Special attention will be given to the major works and literary schools collectively understood to be part of the Modern and Postmodern poetic literary movements in English and American literature.  Attention will be given to the works, biographical, historical and cultural contexts through critical reading, writing and discussion.
