“My name is Janelie Diaz Bonet, I’m a nineteen-year-old woman, who likes pizza, cars, sports, and most of all values God and family. I’m on my sophomore year of my bachelor’s degree in computer science at the University of Puerto Rico in Arecibo. In which in most of my classes I’m the only girl. I am a board member of the Computer Science Student Association (CSSA) and a member of the Robotics Development Lab (RoDeL). Later, for my master’s degree I plan to combine computer science with biomedics.

Summer of 2018 I was accepted in an internship at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, FL. This was an incredible opportunity for a freshman like me. I got the chance and challenge to meet new people from other backgrounds and work with them as well. In addition, I had to speak English for the entire summer, some of what I am not used to. This amazing opportunity provided me experience and self-growth. I worked on a Distributed Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) research along with two of my colleagues”
