Nashali Rivera Cancel is a junior in the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez studying Computer Engineering with a minor in Italian. Being the elder sister of three she is characterized by being a hardworker, quick learner and persistent. During her sophomore year she joined the UPRM Moonbuggy Project Design Team. In 2017, she joined the SWE Boeing Team Tech on their current project partnered with Boston Scientific. This project was presented and competed in the WE18 Conference, winning second place. Due to her participation in the team she became part of the SWE UPRM Chapter, in which she took part in many activities. This awarded her the SWE Star Member Award, which compensates the student who carries the image of leadership and commitment with them. Now, she is actively working in the association’s activities for the academic year and is the Fundraising Leader with a fellow colleague. Furthermore, she now works in the Agricultural Extension Service in an outreach program as a wed designer.
