| Award duration |

Each participant will participate in the program for a two-year period. Selection and continuation of each student in the program is dependent upon student academic progress and performance. UPRM may require reimbursement of previously allocated stipend to the student, if the student willingly withdraws from the program.

| Award stipend & travel costs |

• All travel and per-diem related costs associated with the trip to Costa Rica in summer 2024, will be covered by the program.
• Students will receive a stipend for participation in the program during summer 2025 (Yr2), as per UPRM-Agricultural Experiment Station guidelines. The amount paid to the student will depend on the agency and location of the internship.
• Travel costs associated with the summer 2025 research internship, soil judging competition, and scientific meetings will be covered by the program.
• Students will be covered by the UPRM student insurance during the internship period.

| Expectations |

• Students are expected to actively participate in seminars, workshops and training sessions coordinated by UPRM faculty each academic year during their participation in the program.
• Students are expected to provide a written report, oral or video presentation upon completion of each activity.
