Engineering for the 21st Century

About ISOS

The Sustainability Engineering (ISOS) initiative at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez is developing a new minor curricular sequence in Sustainability Engineering to begin in August 2023, with additional plans to develop a new bachelor’s degree program in the near future. We are looking for talented and motivated students who want to change the world through the study of engineering, in preparation to become professionals who will work under the Planet, People, Prosperity paradigm that strives to promote human well-being in balance with the biosphere.

The minor sequence at ISOS is designed for new first-year students who wish to orient their study program from day one around the topic of sustainability. Scholarships and other support are available through a grant from the National Science Foundation. An application process is required, and admitted students would begin the sequence with a specially designed summer camp in July 2023. Women are especially encouraged to apply!

Scholarship and Camp

As part of an initiative at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, a series of courses in Sustainability Engineering (ISOS) are being developed. We are looking for students who are enthusiastic about this topic, wish to take the courses and at the same time participate in other related activities. We offer a summer camp and a scholarship with mentoring to complete these courses and activities.
