Prof. Wilma L. Santiago Gabrielini, M.Arch. assumed the position of Acting Chancellor of the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus (UPRM) in July 2017. Since then, she chairs the Academic Senate and the Administrative Board of the Campus which employs about 1,700 employees and has more than 13,000 students.

During her 25 years in the institution, she has served as Dean of Students, Special Assistant to the Chancellor, Dean of Administration, Director of the Office of Institutional Research and Planning; and as an Architect. She is currently a professor in the Department of Engineering and Materials Sciences. Prior to working in the Campus, she worked as an architecture and urban planning consultant.

She began her bachelor’s studies at the UPRM and then transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to complete her degree in Architecture in 1990. At the same institution, she obtained her master’s degree in the aforementioned discipline in 1992. She is currently a PhD candidate in Education at the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana, of Mexico (UNINI).

She is a member of the following entities: National Association of Colleges Auxiliary Services (NACAS), National Association of Colleges and University Business Officers (NACUBO), Alpha Delta Kappa-International Honorary Organization for Women Educators, U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) -US Caribbean Chapter, as well as the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE).

During her professional career she has also participated as an evaluating member of the Council of Higher Education of Puerto Rico; of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commissions and of the advisory board of the Museum of the Campus (MuSA). In addition, she chaired the Intramural Practice Committee.
