Alum Rubén Leoncio and graduate assistant Rey Montalvo displayed RISE UP projects at the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) 2022 Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Rubén presented his poster titled “Voices of Experience: Enhancing Learning on Resilient Infrastructure and Sustainability through Servingness” where he talked about the experiences, knowledge, and skills, he, and other RISE UP Alumni gained through research and development of case studies for the program.  

Rey presented a collaborative project between RISE UP and the Coastal Resilience Center in Mayagüez titled “Development of Educational Modules to Assess Flood Risk and Mitigation Strategies for Coastal Communities”, where he talked about the creation and implementation of educational modules for RISE UP to increase awareness and sensitize students in the program about flood hazards based on previous local experiences as well as the creation of a full course for in-depth study in flooding and mitigation strategies for coastal communities.
