The Solar Engineering Research and Racing Team (SERRT) is one of the flagship engineering projects of the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. This team currently develops a solar powered car to compete in the American Solar Challenge and Formula Sun Grand Prix. Our team is comprised of multidisciplinary students from Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, and Industrial Engineering as well as Finance and Marketing amongst other backgrounds. SERRT`s goal is to promote the use of sustainable technology, with a focus on transportation. The team pursues this goal by providing students hands-on experience that helps them develop important practical and soft skills to make them better professionals for the near future. As important as the manufacturing of a working solar car, this team has the mission to promote the use of renewable energy and educate our community about it. We do this by outreach activities that help us spread our values and mission as well as those of our sponsors, to help create a better future for all. This project also serves as a platform for companies to scout future talent and to promote their engagement with the community, helping drive innovation and leadership in the field of education and renewable energy.
