Research Information

The Bioengineering Graduate Program of the University of Puerto Rico – Mayagüez (UPRM) offers many interdisciplinary research opportunities in the broad areas of biomedical engineering and computational bioengineering. Students have the opportunity to work in state of the art research facilities and with outstanding faculty members on highly innovative and significant research projects. Our research and training programs are funded by agencies such as NSF, NIH, the US Department of Education, the Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust, among others. Students publish their work in high-impact journals and participate in national and international scientific conferences. The UPRM is located on the western coast of Puerto Rico, an area known for its beautiful beaches, lush vegetation, waterfalls and spectacular sunsets. Cycling, jogging, surfing, beach hopping and hiking are popular activities. We all work very hard at UPRM to achieve excellence in bioengineering research and education, and to contribute in understanding biological systems and improving healthcare. But, when we are not working, we like to enjoy everything this area has to offer.
