The Mayaguez Campus of the University of Puerto Rico (UPRM) inaugurated in 2018 the first SAS Student Section under the mentorship of Dr. Samuel P. Hernández-Rivera.

Currently, SAS conected with the Optica, formally Optical Society of America (OSA), student chapter to make a stronger inpact in the STEM community.
