CETL's Vision, Mission and History

Since its founding, the Center of Excellence for Transportation and Logistics (CETL) has played a key role in advancing Puerto Rico’s capacity to address the evolving challenges and opportunities in transportation, logistics, and supply chain management. CETL was created to bridge the gap between academia, industry, and government, fostering collaboration to generate innovative solutions that improve the efficiency and competitiveness of logistics systems on the island and beyond. Through educational programs, applied research, industry partnerships, and workforce development initiatives, CETL has worked to empower students, professionals, and organizations to lead the future of transportation and logistics.

CETL’s mission is to prepare skilled, industry-ready professionals at UPRM to meet Puerto Rico’s transportation and logistics demands by combining academic excellence with hands-on learning and industry collaboration.

Guided by this mission, CETL’s vision is to serve as a catalyst for advancing talent and innovation within the transportation and logistics community, with the ultimate goal of promoting sustainable, long-term social and economic development for Puerto Rico. By nurturing the next generation of leaders, driving research-based innovation, and supporting industry transformation, CETL remains committed to strengthening Puerto Rico’s position as a vital logistics and transportation hub in the Caribbean and the world.
