I am currently a student of Dr. Amos Winter, the director of the Caribbean Atmospheric Research Center affiliated with the National Climate Data Center in North Carolina and the Southeast Regional Climate Center in South Carolina. My research interest include the implementation of interdisciplinary approaches to understand current Caribbean Sea microbial diversity and population of key organisms involve in planetary changes. Aimed to understand the Ocean towards becoming an astrobiologist. Past work includes the identification of new organisms from the phytotelmata of carnivorous plants for their implementation in the biomedical or biotechnology industry by the characterization and determination of their biological and chemical composition, products and metabolic activity. This work was held in the Microbial Biotechnology and Bioprospecting Laboratory (B-266) at The University of Puerto Rico – Mayaguez’s Biological Department under the collaboration and supervision of Dr. Carlos Rios-Velazquez, principal investigator.
