About Us:

We are the student chapter of the association known as IEEE Power & Energy Society, better known as IEEE PES. We are the only power-specialized association at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez campus.

An entity comprised of women whose stories and positions in the industry help demonstrate the success anyone can achieve through dedication.
This leadership team is supported by mentors and role models who share their inspiring stories.
It fosters more diverse leadership by promoting professional development, creating connections, and educating women in the energy industry.
Our goal is not only to increase the number of women in the energy industry but also to guide them towards holding leadership positions!”

EmpoWer is the research project created by IEEE PES – WIP UPRM with the goal to develop
a Solar Heater with recyclable materials and Solar Powered Water Purifier for a school in
Culebra, Puerto Rico.
Established in January 2023.
