DEANSHIP OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

MISSION

Develop socially responsible, responsive, creative, committed, ethical professionals and leaders with an entrepreneurial spirit and global focus, and develop creative, research and service work that meets the needs of society. Provide strategic direction and operational support to academic work to offer an excellent education.

Foster an environment that promotes creativity with innovative and agile programs that incorporate theory and practice. Provide services that help the well-being of our society, our academic community and global economic development. Disseminate the results of creative work, research and service activities so that they are accessible to all.

Play an active role in the implementation and development of processes that promote ethics and academic integrity. Continue assessment cycles that support formal institutional research processes and serve as a basis for the planning and decision-making process.

 

VISION

Be the engine to promote and maintain the Institution at a national and international competitive level, recruiting and graduating the best students, using technology to offer excellent services and promoting agility in academic processes. To be at the forefront of higher education in Puerto Rico, exercising leadership, and providing the necessary expertise and resources to support academic, research and service activities.

 

CREATION OF THE DEAN OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

The Dean of Academic Affairs was created by the then Council of Higher Education in 1963 in order to foster, supervise and coordinate all academic functions of the units, promoting the highest standards of excellence in teaching, research and service.

 

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE DEAN OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

Objective 1				Carry out continuous assessment that supports formal institutional research processes and serves as a basis for the planning and decision-making process
Objective 2				Be managers and facilitators of the efforts to provide all our students with a cutting-edge education that makes them the best professionals in the country.
Objective 3				Increase and diversify income sources
Objective 4				Foster an operationally agile, effective, efficient and auditable university
Objective 5				Support institutional efforts for the development of research and creative work in compliance with the highest ethical standards
Objective 6				Impact the Puerto Rican society
Objective 7				Promote an optimal and ethical academic environment that reinforces the sense of commitment and belonging in graduates and employees
