This project aims to characterize the total amount of floatables debris that reaches the Flood Control Pumping Station (FCPS) owned by DNER and develop a mitigation plan and management alternatives. Data collected will allow the comparison of debris behavior in rainy-North and dry-South areas. The data will be used to develop mitigation plans to reduce the land-based products and packaging that end up at FCPS. Around 20 volunteers will be recruited for this effort. The volunteers will be trained on floatable characterization and safety protocols.
