General Description: The Institute of Industrial and System Engineers (IISE) is an international, nonprofit association that focuses on providing leadership, education, and training in diverse areas of industrial and systems engineering. It is considered the world’s largest professional society, with the greatest impact among IE students. The IISE is dedicated fully to its mission – “We serve those who solve the complex and critical problems of the world”, giving us the tools and connections to support our profession as Industrial Engineers. Our chapter, Chapter #891, is the biggest one in the IE department of the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez campus. With more than 100 active members, we focus on the development of our four main areas: academic, professional, social, and community. This helps the students to become well-rounded professionals, while teaching teamwork skills and empathy. To achieve the objectives of our four areas, we create and work simultaneously with the Industrial Engineering department with outreach, activities, and professional projects for all IE students in our campus.
