This past Friday, we participated in an Open House at the Molecular Science Center-UPR, hosted by the UPR-Medical Science Campus. This center is located at Bayamón, Puerto Rico, and is one of the best research centers in the island. This facility was inaugurated in 2011, and supports research in diverse areas like biomedicine, molecular biology, protein structures, and genomics.

The purpose of this event was to motivate students into pursuing careers within the STEM fields. The open house consisted in a tour of the facilities and demonstrations where the public would enjoy many experiments related to chemistry and material science.
Our graduate students were very thrilled to present experiments in these areas and help encourage high school students to be a part of the STEM community. Our students did an amazing job with all who visited their sections and are excited to be a part of these experiences again. The UPR Medical Science Campus id a great job organizing this event, and we encourage those who were not able to participate this year, to join us in the next one.
