Foundation

In February 2025, the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez received a significant funding allocation to establish the Center of Excellence in Transportation and Logistics (CETL), marking a historic milestone in regional academic-industry collaboration. The initial $1 million investment, part of a long-term public-private partnership, sets the foundation for new interdisciplinary programs aimed at transforming transportation and logistics research in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.

Inception

Born from the strong research culture at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, CETL was established to meet the growing demand for innovation, data-driven solutions, and skilled talent in Puerto Rico’s transportation and logistics sector. Recognizing the critical role this industry plays in the island’s economic future, CETL serves as a strategic hub where academia and industry collaborate to drive growth, efficiency, and competitiveness across the sector.
