Open Postdoctoral Position
The Physics Department, University of Puerto Rico – Mayagüez (USA), is seeking a motivated postdoctoral scientist with a background in experimental physics or material science and expertise with in-situ transmission electron microscopy.
The postdoc will conduct 100% of the experimental work using state-of-the-art instrumentation in the Electron Microscopy group of the Center for Functional Nanomaterial at Brookhaven National Lab (Group Leader: Dr. Judy Yang).
The research program focuses on experimental investigations of electrical field induced metal insulator transitions (E-MITs) in a range of materials exhibiting MITs (particularly the phase-change vanadates). It is expected that simultaneous electron microscopy imaging and voltage–current measurements through the MIT on specially prepared samples using state-of-theart in-situ TEM holders will help elucidate the microscopic origin of phase transitions in these materials.
The candidate will also contribute to numerical data analysis, preparation of figures, and writing papers. The individual is expected to write and submit manuscripts based on the work in the laboratory. This fellowship will provide an opportunity to work with experimentalists and
theorists in the Physics Department of the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez (USA) and Brookhaven National Lab. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team to conduct research in the field of Neuromorphic materials and Experimental Physics.
