The Battery Division designs and maintains the vehicle’s energy storage system, ensuring safe and efficient power delivery throughout competition. The team develops the battery pack architecture, selecting optimal cell chemistry and configuration to balance energy density, cycle life, and thermal performance. Core responsibilities include battery management system (BMS) integration for real-time monitoring of cell voltage, temperature, and state of charge, thermal management system design to prevent overheating during high-power discharge cycles, and mechanical packaging that protects cells from vibration and impact while minimizing weight. The division also conducts ongoing research into emerging battery technologies, cell balancing strategies, and charge/discharge optimization algorithms to maximize range and system longevity.
