Formula Sun Grand Prix 2019

For the third consecutive year, the Solar Electric Research and Racing Team (SERRT) from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez (UPRM) received the Spirit of the Event Award, which recognizes the positivity, passion, and energy demonstrated by the team during the American Solar Challenge (ASC) Solar Racing competition held at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas. The team also received the Egress Award, which honors the driver who can exit the car the fastest.

The newspaper Primera Hora published an article highlighting the performance of the UPRM Solar Car during the Formula Sun Grand Prix competition.

The Pitirre 2.0 completed 73 laps around the track over the three days of competition, marking its best performance since the SERRT project was revived in 2012.
