Since 2019, the Solar Car Team of the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez (UPRM) had not participated in the Formula Sun Grand Prix, but in 2025 we proudly and determinedly took on that great challenge once again. This year’s event was held at the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky, a highly demanding circuit that brought together more than 30 university teams from across North America.

The Competition
The Formula Sun Grand Prix (FSGP) is a national solar car competition where university teams from across North America design, build, and race solar-powered vehicles. It challenges students to apply real-world engineering, teamwork, and innovation while promoting the future of sustainable transportation.
Performance
During the competition, the BB-89 successfully completed all scrutineering stages except for the dynamics inspection and achieved a 16th-place finish out of 26 participating teams.
