CRECEN is a program that offers the community the opportunity to learn and train through courses and/or professional certifications, which allows each person the possibility of increasing their chances of success when looking for a job or growth opportunities. Each person who applies to the program is given a brief interview in which their professional profile is analyzed to understand their needs and areas of opportunity. Using this information, a Professional Development Plan is designed, which is personalized for each participant. To the considerations, at the moment of the development of the Plan, the availability of the same and your personal goals are added. After the participant has completed the course, she receives a certificate that she can use in her portfolio. If necessary, the participant can be instructed on dress, ethics, and preparation for interviews.
People who can participate in the program are:
- Small and Medium-sized Businesses, Association, Organizations and Schools that want to increase their employees skills and productivity.
- People who are unemployed.
- Employees in need of retraining to aspire to better job opportunities
- American citizens who live in Puerto Rico.
The program is free of cost.
We offer a variety of in-person, hybrid, and/or online (synchronous) courses through the DECEP and CREAD programs at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, as well as through the Coursera platform. Visit our course catalog: https://bit.ly/CatalogodeCursos_CRECEN
The contact hours for courses in the collaborative programs are mostly during weekdays starting at 6:00 PM, with some sessions on Saturday mornings. Certifications on Coursera can be completed at the participant’s preferred schedule.
The professional certifications on Coursera are fully virtual. The courses offered by the collaborative programs are mostly virtual and are delivered in a synchronous format, although some courses are available asynchronously. Synchronous courses are recorded in case someone needs to miss a session due to an emergency.
The professional certifications on Coursera are completed within three to six months, depending on the certification. The courses from the collaborative programs have a variety of meeting times and hours. On average, they meet two to three times a week for one month. However, some courses have more contact hours and last longer than the average.

IMPORTANT! At the moment, we are not accepting individual applications. To participate in our program, you must be part of a cohort through an organization, student association, or company. Individuals will be able to apply starting May 15, 2025.
To apply to the program, you must meet the following requirements: submit a photo ID (passport or driver’s license) and complete the form provided by our administrative staff.
