What is CRECEN?

CRECEN is a program that offers the community the opportunity to learn and train through courses and/or professional certifications, which allows each person the possibility of increasing their chances of success when looking for a job or growth opportunities. Each person who applies to the program is given a brief interview in which their professional profile is analyzed to understand their needs and areas of opportunity. Using this information, a Professional Development Plan is designed, which is personalized for each participant. To the considerations, at the moment of the development of the Plan, the availability of the same and your personal goals are added. After the participant has completed the course, she receives a certificate that she can use in her portfolio. If necessary, the participant can be instructed on dress, ethics, and preparation for interviews.

Who can participate in CRECEN?

People who can participate in the program are:

People who are unemployed.
Employees in need of retraining to aspire to better job opportunities
American citizens who live in Puerto Rico.
Small and Medium-sized Businesses, Association, Organizations and Schools that want to increase their employees skills and productivity.

How much does it cost to participate in CRECEN?

The program is free of cost.

What type of courses are offered?

Our courses are offered either in person, hybrid, or online by the Business Administration Department of the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus (EDUCON) and through the Coursera learning platform.

Do the courses conflict with my work schedule?

The contact hours of the courses offered by EDUCON tend to be mostly weekdays from 6:00 PM and some on Saturday mornings. The Coursera Professional Certifications can be completed in the schedule the participant prefers.

In what modality are the courses offered?

The Coursera Certifications are completely virtual. The courses by EDUCON are mostly offered synchronously in a virtual manner, although there are some courses that are offered asynchronously. Courses that are synchronous are recorded in case someone is excused for an emergency. We use Zoom and WizIQ to deliver the courses.

How long are the courses?

Coursera Certifications can be completed within 3 months to 6 months, depending on the certification. Each of the EDUCON courses has a different duration and meeting times. On average they meet two to three times a week for 1 month. However, there are some courses that have more contact hours and are longer than average.
