The New Venture Design Experience was a project at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez campus that facilitated multidisciplinary teamwork in addressing a design challenge throughout an academic year. Collaborating on a design challenge, students engaged in market research, identified opportunity areas (consumer problems), and proposed ideas (solutions) to develop into working prototypes. Design challenges were broad topic areas that reflected current problems in society, guiding the students towards the development of products or services for the benefit of society.
