PestPi: Automated Non-native Species Detection
The students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico – Mayagüez (UPRM) worked on their Capstone project during the spring semester of 2024, developing a platform called PestPi for the automated detection of non-native species. This system aims to identify and monitor invasive species such as iguanas, boas, and rodents on agricultural lands, which is crucial for pest control and population management in Puerto Rico.
