OHL Director Ricia Chansky’s essay “Eating in crisis: social capital and post-disaster food security” has been published in the Oral History Society’s (OHS) autumn 2026 issue of the Oral History Journal. “Eating in crisis” explores how we eat in the aftermath of disaster when our access to food, preservation, systems of procurement and means of communicating are undermined. This essay situates three interviews recorded by members of the OHL with mutual aid organizers as key to understanding how food security is cultivated even in states of chronic crisis.
