Ricia Anne Chansky published her essay, “Oral History and the Climate Crisis: Listening in the Aftermath of Disaster” in the fall issue of Oral History Review. In it, she discusses the creation of the Oral History Laboratory at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez through projects that encompass climate justice and link the university with the community. This essay structures a theoretical framework for utilizing oral history as qualitative, community-based data sets present in post-disaster narratives as essential information for members of our frontline communities and the external stakeholders of policymakers, responders, and researchers who are making decisions that directly impact these communities. Chansky was also selected for an interview about her work for the Oral History Review Extra! online publication. Based upon this work, she was named a member of the editorial board for the Oral History Review.

En este, discute la creación del Laboratorio de Historia Oral en la Universidad de Puerto Rico en Mayagüez mediante proyectos que abarcan la justicia climática y vinculan a la universidad con la comunidad. Este ensayo estructura un marco teórico para utilizar historia oral como data cualitativa, basada en comunidades, presente en narrativas recopiladas en el tiempo después de desastres como información esencial para miembros de comunidades de primer impacto al igual que para investigadores, respondedores y políticos quieres toman decisiones que impactan directamente a estas comunidades. Chansky también fue seleccionada para participar de una entrevista sobre su trabajo con la publicación en línea, Oral History Review Extra!. Basado en este trabajo fue nombrada miembro de la junta editorial del Oral History Review.
