During the One Hundred and Eleventh Collation of Degrees at the Mayagüez University Campus, two students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering were honored with the Luis Stefani Raffucci Award: Faculty of Engineering Award for the student with the highest academic index. These outstanding students are:
Alejandro M. Cruzado Ruiz:
Alejandro shared his reflections on his time at university as a journey full of challenges overcome and goals achieved. At 22 years old, he feels honored to receive the Luis Stefani Raffucci Award and recognition as the best student in the Department of Software Engineering. He is now preparing to enjoy the summer exploring Puerto Rico and recharging energy for his next step: starting to work as a software engineer at Google starting in September 2024.
Hedin A. García Hernández:
Hedin, also 22 years old and from Dorado, expressed his surprise and gratitude upon receiving the Luis Stefani Raffucci Award and recognition as the student with the highest academic index in Computer Engineering. He acknowledged the invaluable support of his family, friends, and mentors, as well as the positive influence of his research experience with Dr. Nayda Santiago. Like Alejandro, he is preparing to begin his career as a software engineer at Google, highlighting his university experience as a transformative experience both personally and professionally.
