ME Alumni Receive NSF Graduate Fellowship

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez is celebrating the recent announcement that two ME students received the prestigious NSF Graduate Research Fellowship.

Miriam Figueroa Santos

Miriam Figueroa Santos forms part of our past year’s graduates. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Suma Cum Laude. She is a Doctoral Student at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor.

 

Gabriel López Marcial

Gabriel López Marcial forms part of our current graduate candidates.

 

Along with Miriam, Gabriel forms part of the 10% of applicants that receive the most important and competitive Fellowship offered by the National Science Foundation. The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship is among the most prestigious and renowned in STEM fields. Each recipient is awarded with a $34,000.00/yr stipend and an additional $12,000/yr for tuition related expenses for three years.
