Design, Analysis, and Prototyping Services

Intramural practice projects in design, analysis and prototyping are proposed to help our community developed their ideas. Using the form below you will provide information about the project you want us help you develop. The faculty and staff of the Department of Mechanical Engineering will study the information and contact you. The project, if approved by the Campus Committee of Intramural Practice will be developed in the facilities of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and supervised by our faculty and technical personnel.

Room Rental Services

Our Department is located within minutes of major hotels and restaurants. Many meeting planners opt for an educational space for the learning atmosphere, as a change of pace or for budgetary reasons.Our classrooms are bright and outfitted with comfortable chairs and tables. Whether your group is small or medium sized, we offer room to accommodate groups up to approximately 50 people. Need presentation aids? All rooms are equipped with white boards, screens and state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment for demonstration purposes. Audio/visual equipment is available upon request at no additional charge. All rooms have wireless internet connection to bring the vast resources of the internet right to your meeting.

$75 1-4 hours
$150 4-8 hours
Rates are per day.

Computer Lab Rates
$75 per hour, 3 hour minimum.
Lab support is required for the computer labs.

Lab Support Rates—$25 per student, per day, 3 student minimum.

Lab rates include the service of the Instructional Computing Staff Services including limited installation of software and support for your class. The price does not include the cost of new software. Allow two-week lead time for installation of software.

Cancellations
You must cancel your reservation at least 72 hours or more in advance or there may be a charge equal to the first day’s rent.

The Mechanical Engineering Department rents its facilities under certain terms and conditions. This rent may be waived under certain circunstances. To request a room please fill the contact form available through this link:

Computer Center (CADLAB) Services

Mechanical Engineering Students can request exclusive access to our CADLab. The CADLab houses workstations capable of handling the basic to mid-level computations required by the cutting-edge, industry-grade software installed.

Students are capable of:

  • Simulating complex Fluid Dynamics and Solid Dynamics required to model the behavior of real-world applications.
  • Developing algorithms in modern and flexible computer programming environments to model phenomena seen in experiments.
  • Designing advanced components to be used in projects and research.
  • Simulating the behavior of assemblies digitally.
  • Many great experiences that will prepare them to excel in their professional careers.

The CADLab workstations are available 24/7 to students with a magnetic access key that can be requested through this procedure. (The CADLab also offers printing services to students with an access key at a low cost.)

Complaint Management System

In order to streamline support requests and better serve you, we utilize a complaint management system. Every support request is assigned a unique ticket number which you can use to track the progress and responses online. For your reference we provide complete archives and history of all your support requests. A valid “upr.edu” email address is required.
