On Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 10:30 in the General Library’s Conference Room (Sala A) digital humanities projects based on oral narratives collected by OHL community partners will be presented under the auspices of the project “Speaking in the Silences: Constructing Community Archives Throughout the Puerto Rican Archipelago” of the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS).
During the event, four mutual aid organizations from across the Puerto Rican archipelago share their digital justice projects that combine digital humanities and social justice. Listen to the women coffee farmers’ collective of CAMJI Bartolo, learn herbal healing from elders at CAMJI Lares, hear stories rooted in place from La Perla with Colectivo PerlArte, and follow the history of music and community with Fundación de Culebra. Be sure to find our listening station and record your own story! This project is generously funded by a Digital Justice Grant from the American Council of Learned Societies.

Duante el evento cuatro organizaciones de ayuda mutua de todo el archipiélago puertorriqueño compartirán sus proyectos de justicia digital que combinan humanidades digitales y justicia social. Escucha al colectivo de mujeres caficultoras de CAMJI Bartolo, aprende sobre la curación a base de hierbas de los mayores en CAMJI Lares, escucha historias arraigadas en La Perla con el Colectivo PerlArte y sigue la historia de la música y la comunidad con la Fundación de Culebra.
