Dr. Angela González-Mederos
Inter American University of Puerto Rico- San Germán Campus

Dr. Angela González-Mederos obtained a Doctor of Philosophy and Master in Science in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and her Bachelor in Chemistry from Universidad Central de Venezuela. She is a Professor in the Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences of the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, San Germán Campus. She teaches undergraduate courses such as Green Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Instrumental Analysis and Senior Seminar, among others. She also teaches the graduate courses Environmental Chemistry and Environmental Analysis for the Environmental Science MS Program. She mentors undergraduate and graduate research focused in environmental analysis and treatment. Dr. González has also been mentor of the San Germán Chapter-Chemistry Student Association. She has been project co-director of several NIFA-USDA projects, such ECaFSS, which aim to better prepare Hispanic students in science. Dr. González has also been the head of the Department and has been very active with the American Chemical Society Puerto Rico Section, of which she has been president (2013), councilor (2015-2018) and recently elected president for 2019.
